Measurement Principle

The Particulate Matter (PM) sensor uses laser scattering technology, also known as an Optical Particle Counter (OPC), to measure PM1, PM2.5, PM10, and PM100 concentrations in ambient air. As airborne particles pass through a laser beam, they scatter light at specific angles. The scattered light is collected by an optical system and detected by a photodiode, generating signals proportional to the particle size and number. These signals are processed through a multi-channel size classifier to determine particle size distribution and calculate particulate matter concentrations in real time. A heated inlet minimizes the effects of moisture, helping ensure reliable measurements under varying environmental conditions.
