Our Client

Grasim is a leading global producer of Viscose Staple Fibre (VSF), offering eco-friendly solutions for textiles and non-woven applications. It was originally established as a textiles manufacturer in India and has grown into a diversified industry leader with a strong presence across multiple sectors. Today, it is a global leader in cellulosic fibers and diversified chemicals and a prominent producer of fashion yarns and fabrics in India. It is also one of India’s largest producers of caustic soda and other chlorine derivatives, crucial for industries like textiles, agriculture, and water treatment. Grasim manufactures premium linen and wool fabrics for domestic and international markets in the textile space.

The Challenge

The Grasim Chemical plants were required to adhere to NAAQS guidelines for monitoring the PM levels and other air pollutants. To fulfill their obligations to the guidelines, having an air quality monitoring system was essential. Monitoring the emissions from the plants like PM2.5, PM10, NO, NO2, SO2, O3, and CO within a single compact device was necessary. Additionally, they wanted to ensure their workers and the residents around the plant had safe breathing conditions. The company wanted to understand the various emissions caused by the plants and if it had an adverse effect on the environment.

The Solution

Oizom offered Polludrone Lite to Grasim Industries Ltd. to monitor the various parameters of the Chemical plant site on a real-time basis. Polludrone is capable of monitoring air pollutants on a real-time basis along with temperature, humidity, and noise levels. Polludrone is smart, compact, and lightweight, and it can be moved easily to different locations as per the client’s requirements. In order to detect the direction of the pollution, wind direction and wind speed detection are also considered when monitoring the source of pollution. In addition to this, Oizom’s cloud computing software, Envizom, can analyse data, create historical trend reports, and provide comprehensive reports on such air pollutant levels.

The Result

The Grasim Industries Ltd. is now able to retrieve a continuous reading of various pollution levels from the chemical plant. Using Oizom’s smart, accurate, and robust air quality monitoring system, the company is able to formulate a database on the various pollution levels with timestamps on and around the site. This has helped the authorities to understand the cause and make appropriate decisions that best suit safeguarding their workers’ health.
