Monitoring Weather in Adani Dighi Port, Maharashtra
Adani Dighi Port in Maharashtra is monitoring the weather by using Oizom's Weather Monitoring Station - Weathercom.
Volcanic ash, which consists of shattered rock particles with a diameter of less than 2 mm, is a type of natural pollutant that is sometimes disregarded. These ashes are produced during volcanic eruptions and may be heated at first but cool as they move away from the volcano. They pose heat hazards and risks to human and environmental health. These ashes may be coated with a thin, acidic layer, accelerating the deterioration of respiratory and ocular conditions. They indirectly affect water and food supply systems.
Volcanic ash exposure can induce acute respiratory morbidity, particularly in people with pre-existing respiratory diseases. Ultra-fine air pollution, such as volcanic ash, aerosol, and acid gas releases, can travel hundreds of kilometers and have health consequences far away from their source. Volcano-induced starvation, tsunamis, and mudflows are responsible for the vast majority of mortality caused by eruptions. However, Dr. Clair Horwell of Durham University’s Institute of Hazard and Risk Research claims that official figures frequently fail to account for or significantly understate, the morbidity associated with volcanic air pollution exposures. This blog will provide complete information regarding volcanic ash, its health effects, and how to protect yourself against it.
Were you aware of that? Globally, over a billion people are estimated to live within 100 km of an active volcano.

Our Client
The Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. Acquired the Dighi Port which is 100 km away from Mumbai, Maharashtra. It Adani Group has plans to invest $1.8 Billion dollars to turn it into a ‘new gateway’ to Maharashtra. It is interlinked with a number of industries across the world. It is built to serve Oil, Chemicals, containers and Bulk cargo. It has excellent road connectivity and harbours berthing facilities, warehouses, Liquid Tank farms and Open stockyards for various commodities. It houses a number of workers for construction, fishing and other various activities come on a daily basis.
The Challenge
The Adani Dighi Port hosts a number of cargos and terminals with commodities of all kinds. It is important for a Seaport that monitors the temperature, humidity, UV, light, wind direction, and wind speed to understand the weather conditions and tidal waves’ behaviours. However, the Adani Digi port did not have such a monitor that could also transfer data on a real-time basis to the Adani Port’s display devices. Having flexible network connectivity options for accessing the information from the device was also crucial.
The Solution
Oizom with Pollucon offered the Adani Dighi Port to install Weathercom for monitoring the weather conditions like temperature, humidity, UV, light, Wind speed, and wind direction. The Adani Ports in Goa and Kandla have Oizom’s Weather Monitoring Station for monitoring the weather conditions and wind direction. Weathercom is equipped with a robust body that can endure harsh weather conditions of the seaport. It has a wide range of network connectivity like GSM, Ethernet, MODBUS, etc. for sharing the data. Additionally, it also comes equipped with Data Analysis & Visualisation software that can showcase historical data on the weather and formulate trends on the same. This helps the authorities in tracking the weather conditions and warning the crew in case of any potential storms.
The Result
The Adani Dighi Port can now monitor the weather conditions on a real-time basis. The Data Analytics and Visualization software has enabled the authorities to have an overview of the historical data and the patterns of the weather. This has helped them make better decisions that prevent any damage or rust to the materials and cargo. The robustness and accuracy of the weather monitoring station have proven to be reliable yet again.
