To meet the aim of providing a healthier lifestyle to Palava city’s citizens, Oizom installed Odosense (Odor monitor) near STPs & ETPs of the city. This solution helps enable the maintenance and cleaning crew to track the odour concentration from these plants in real-time and take corrective measures for its control. The inconvenience due to odour dispersion in the Palava Campus was significantly low by suppressing the odour on time. In case, the odour tends to cross the threshold limits, The crew is notified to take the necessary steps to mitigate the odour on time.
Palava city aims to strategize a smart waste management system. The city aims to reuse its waste – be it solid waste or wastewater. To achieve this objective, used water from all households is treated in the STP. Here, its harmful effects lessen before being let out into the open environment. The Palava City Management Association (PCMA) noticed that a few residents were experiencing odour problems in their area due to the foul stench. The authorities, therefore, needed to address the problem and track the root cause of the odour emission. But wind speed and its flow direction were a hindrance to identifying the source of the odour.
After a detailed site survey, Oizom experts spotted odourful gases and particulate matters from the sewage treatment plant to be the cause of the problem. Thus, Oizom proposed to install Odosense – an Odour Monitoring solution. Oizom installed Odosense at strategic locations at the site to measure CO, SO2, NO2, H2S, NH3, CH4, VOC, and CH2O. Odosense is the most advance e-nose design particularly to monitor odourful components. This odour emerges from waste treatment plants, landfills, dump yards, etc. Odosense monitored the environmental parameters in real-time. The emission hot-spot is trace back using reverse modeling. Oizom Terminal is set up for the PCMA admins to view the data. The cloud-based application helped to visualize the hourly/monthly Odour Index.
