The Challenge
Having thousands of travellers and vehicles pass through the tunnel, it was imperative to understand the air quality and dust levels in the tunnel to make improvements in the ventilation system. There were also a number of requests coming in from civilians and other officials to get a read on the air quality and dust levels on the Tunnel road. However, the Queensway Tunnel officials did not have an Air Quality or a Dust Monitoring System that could detect PM2.5, PM10, PM100, humidity, and temperature. Queensway Tunnel needed an IoT(Internet of Things) driven Air Quality Monitor based on GSM connectivity. A notifying mechanism was also needed to warn the authorities on a real-time basis if and when the dust levels cross safety thresholds so that appropriate measures can be taken to protect civilians and workers.
The Solution
Oizom with Codel International Ltd. offered Dustoid Pro to the Queensway Tunnel authorities to monitor PM2.5, PM10, PM100, temperature, and humidity levels within the Queensway Tunnel. Dustroid pro comes integrated with a Data Analytics & Visualization software, Envizom, that can deliver comprehensive data analytics on air quality by establishing historical trends of dust levels, traffic, and wind within the tunnel road. It also comes with a wide range of network connectivity including GSM, where the information can be transferred via a sim card inserted in Dustroid Pro. The Alerts module has the capability to notify the authorities via SMS and email on an immediate basis if and when the dust levels, temperature or humidity crosses a particular threshold.
The Result
Using Oizom’s smart, accurate and robust Air quality and dust monitoring system, the authorities in Queensway Tunnel are empowered to answer any given queries on the air quality and dust levels within the premises. Envizom has enabled the authorities to get a detailed view of the historical trends of dust, data analysis on the dust and air quality levels, traffic rush hours, and even the temperature and humidity levels of the Queensway Tunnel. Dustroid Pro has further empowered the authorities to be notified of the dust levels if and when the dust & air quality levels cross a threshold on a real-time basis. This has helped them make appropriate decisions to improve the ventilation system and safeguard the civilians’ & workers’ health.
